At a time when the Ravens seem to be scrambling to find a reliable replacement for Anquan Boldin's ability to run the various underneath routes and catch pretty much anything thrown his way, it could be that their best option for that role (especially with Dennis Pitta out indefinitely) is their only clear No. 1 receiver on the depth chart.
We've established over the last two weeks that the Ravens may have to use the exclusive franchise tag on quarterback Joe Flacco, and that to do so would require the Ravens to set aside, under current calculations, $20.464 million in cap space.
And while the Ravens will be required to shoulder only the non-exclusive number of $14.6 million (or thereabouts) …
